22. When the circus of elephants passes through

22. June 17, 2025. A first time for everything.

Well, you could say it's thoughtful. Double-bagged. Deposited by a public waste receptacle (albeit for dog poo, but - well, waste is waste, and maybe they really are filled with elephant poo). And it is the day before Ubico, on behalf of Tewkesbury Borough Council, goes through the village picking up stuff from our blue bins, so maybe they'll be picked up then. But the blue bins are for recycling, not general waste, so maybe this is a miscalculation by someone. Or something.

But it makes a change from the usual fly-tipping, and even from the occasional used dog poo bags sometimes unaccountably left around the bottom of the pole.

Two excess domestic waste bags from Wychavon. Reported to Tewkesbury Borough Council. Will they pick them up?

Photograph taken June 17, 2025 at 17:42. Two full black bags left sometime after 15:00. A beautiful day, clear blue skies, and silver-flowered tall grasses in the field behind.

17 June 2025. Wychavon District Council has special stickers for its domestic waste bags!

"Excess Waste. Dear householder / Maximum of two bags per week will be collected / You can take waste to your local household waste site (tip) / For tips on how to reduce your waste visit www.letswasteless.com /  For advice on disposing of bulky waste www.wychavon.gov.uk/bulkywaste".

As poetry it doesn't scan, but as helpful information it's spot on.

Maybe someone clearing out Number 8, from an earlier post, is running out of good places to dump stuff and taken a neatness turn. Or maybe - we've had a lot of sun - maybe it's an accidental misplacement by a heat-disoriented nearby resident of Wychavon, come to walk the dog and in a befuddle left their bags behind.
