4. Made in Wormington: Sewing for neighbours and the nation

Scrub hats, facemasks, bands, scrub bags, scrubs

There was a national request for people to make these items for the NHS.  Patterns were made available online. Villagers provided material for people with sewing machines to make.

Scrub bags were for staff to put scrubs into to take for washing, and bands were to keep hair off the face, with buttons for glasses to go over. Bands were probably for the ward and not surgery.

Hearts

Groups were set up locally to make hearts for relatives of people with Covid who were unable to have visitors.  One heart would be given to the patient and the other matching one to the relative.  It was a means of connecting.  There were collection individuals in Evesham and Pershore for this area.  Again locals donated pillow cases, duvets etc for items to be made.
